A seven-figure Charizard tops the fortnight
The most valuable Pokémon card sale UltraBall tracked from 13 to 26 October was a 1st Edition Base Set Charizard (4/102) in PSA 10, which sold at auction on Fanatics Collect for $1.15 million on 23 October.
It led a fortnight of 324 sales of $50,000 or more across Alt, Fanatics Collect, Goldin and verified eBay US listings. Together they came to $42.1 million.
The count is up from 294 sales, worth $39.5 million, in the two weeks from 29 September to 12 October. The data records what sold, not why, so it cannot say whether the rise reflects stronger demand or simply a heavier auction calendar.
Where the sales cleared
Fanatics Collect dominated, with 204 sales worth $26.3 million. Alt followed with 86 sales worth $12 million.
Goldin recorded 16 sales worth $2.73 million, while eBay logged 18 sales worth $1.02 million. eBay had more qualifying sales than Goldin, but Goldin's lots ran larger, including two of the top 11.
Every sale in UltraBall's published list for the fortnight was an auction. Buy It Now did not feature among the headline results.
Inside the list: Gold Stars, repeats and grades
The top end was deep: 130 sales cleared $100,000, 8 cleared $500,000 and 2 passed $1 million. The second seven-figure result was a Team Rocket Returns Mudkip ☆ (107/109) in PSA 10 at $1,046,250 on Alt.
Gold Star cards appeared 36 times. Mudkip ☆ sold again at Goldin for $610,000, and Holon Phantoms Mewtwo ☆ traded at $312,000, $298,900 and $264,000. Treecko ☆, Pikachu ☆, Latios ☆, Umbreon ☆ and Espeon ☆ also made six figures.
Repeat copies ran through the list. Skyridge Charizard sold at $195,200, $180,000, $156,000 and $154,000, and Legendary Collection reverse holo Charizard made $576,000 and $390,000. Repeated sales of one card give collectors rare sold comps at this level.
PSA 10 slabs made up 295 of the 324 sales. CGC also showed up near the top: a Deoxys Latios ☆ in CGC Pristine 10 sold for $504,000, and a Shadowless Base Set Charizard in CGC Pristine 10 made $250,000.
Why these cards draw bids
The 1st Edition Base Set Charizard is the hobby's best-known grail: the flagship holo of the 1999 English debut set, carrying the 1st Edition stamp. Centring and print lines make Gem Mint copies hard to find.
Gold Star cards come from the EX era that followed Wizards of the Coast. They were extremely hard pulls, often one per set, with an alternate-colour Pokémon marked by a star. That is why Team Rocket Returns Mudkip ☆ and Treecko ☆ sit among the top lots.
The 2002 Legendary Collection reverse holos, with their distinctive fireworks pattern, are notorious for surface wear, which keeps PSA 10 copies scarce. That helps explain an Eevee (74/110) at $615,000. Neo Genesis 1st Edition Lugia (9/111) at $514,080 and the Aquapolis Lugia secret rare (149/147) round out a top tier dominated by early-2000s cards.
Wizards of the Coast era cards accounted for 130 of the sales. Later material also featured, including XY-era Double Crisis Team Aqua's Kyogre-EX at $310,000. The year's running tally sits in UltraBall's report on the biggest Pokémon card sales of 2026. The list excludes Heritage Auctions, Robert Edward Auctions, private sales and Japanese marketplaces.

What collectors should watch
- Whether the count of $50,000-plus sales holds above the 294 recorded in late September and early October, or eases as the auction calendar shifts.
- Further Gold Star results, especially new sold comps for Mudkip ☆ and Mewtwo ☆ after this fortnight's repeat sales.
- How CGC Pristine 10 copies price alongside PSA 10 slabs of the same cards as more of them reach major auction houses.
- The share of sales Fanatics Collect handles against Alt, Goldin and eBay in coming fortnights.
How this was worked out
Alt, Fanatics Collect and Goldin sales come from the sold records UltraBall reads from each venue; eBay sales from UltraBall's verified sold ledger, where each sale is matched to one exact card and grade and a price far from that copy's usual price is held out. The same sale read twice is counted once.
Every price is what the buyer paid, buyer's premium included: Alt's and most of Fanatics' records already include it; Fanatics Weekly Auction hammer prices have its 20% premium added and Goldin's hammer prices its 22% premium. Left out: lots of several cards, and buy-now listings that took an offer without saying for how much (the figure shown is the asking price). Non-English printings are left out of this list.
The period is the 14 days to a Monday, so it holds two of Fanatics' Sunday-night Weekly Auctions, which are dated on the Monday they close. The running list for the year, with the same rules, is UltraBall's report "The biggest Pokémon card sales of 2026 so far".
Heritage Auctions, Robert Edward Auctions, private sales and Japanese marketplaces are not covered, so a sale there is missing from the list.
Every term is defined on UltraBall’s research methodology page, which also sets out the corrections policy.
