Amazing Rares are Pokémon cards with a rainbow-splash background that spills past the edges of the art box. They first appeared in Vivid Voltage in 2020 and returned in Shining Fates in 2021, and the 2026 30th Celebration: Classic Collection reprinted some. Most feature Legendary or Mythical Pokémon.

The rarity symbol is a rainbow "A" instead of a star. That symbol, together with the splash of color behind the Pokémon, makes them easy to recognize in a pile of cards.

With only a small number of cards in the rarity, Amazing Rares are a compact collection, and many collectors try to complete the full run from both sets. Most are affordable, and the few popular Legendaries hold the most value. Rayquaza (Vivid Voltage) from Vivid Voltage is the most valuable, as Rayquaza is one of the most collected Legendaries. Jirachi (Vivid Voltage) and Celebi (Vivid Voltage) are the other favorites from the same set, and Kyogre (Shining Fates) from Shining Fates rounds out the best-known cards.

The rainbow foil marks easily, so condition makes a clear difference in price. When buying ungraded, check the surface under light for scratches and look at the edges of the colored splash, where whitening and print lines are easy to see.
