Double Rare Pokémon cards

The most valuable Double Rare card is Greninja ex 21/128 (30th Celebration), worth about $49.99 ungraded. 325 English cards carry this rarity, from Scarlet & Violet (2023) to 30th Celebration (2026), across the Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution eras.

A Double Rare is the regular ex Pokémon card of the Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution eras. The rarity symbol is two black stars at the bottom left. Each set has a number of them within its main numbering, and they are the most common of the higher rarities.

The card uses the standard frame, with holofoil art inside the art box. That is the easiest way to tell it apart from the full-art versions of the same Pokémon, which are Ultra Rares, Special Illustration Rares or Hyper Rares.

Most Double Rares are inexpensive, because they are pulled often and printed in large numbers. A few are more valuable, usually popular Pokémon that are also strong in the game. Charizard ex (151) from 151 and Umbreon ex (Prismatic Evolutions) from Prismatic Evolutions are among the most valuable. Gengar ex (Temporal Forces) from Temporal Forces carries Gengar's appeal, and Mega Charizard Y ex (Ascended Heroes) from Ascended Heroes shows the demand for the Mega ex cards of the new era.

For most Double Rares, grading costs more than the card is worth. Keep them sleeved, and treat them as playable cards unless the Pokémon is in high demand.
